Welcome to the editor’s blog

So, what do you want to talk about? Downtown? Police Departments? Roodhouse? Something at the paper? (To name a few evergreen topics).

It’s your call. You’ll have to register to make comments, and I’ll have to OK them. I’ll try to check at least once a day (although some days …).

You’ll have to register to comment (although you can read to your heart’s content without registering). That will take an e-mail address. No one else will see the e-mail.

I’ll just make a comment about how pathetic of a story that McNeese guy is giving to explain why the 3 year old accused him. If he’s guilty, he deserves every bit of punishment he gets, and I hope it is severe.

I had an element of doubt until he got to the wardrobe malfunction. Then he lost me.

Good luck on the new secure site. I hope this hinders the idiot who thinks it is his civic duty to protect the citizens of Jacksonville by deleting all the posts, and maybe it will shut the morons up that think openline online was created as their own personal chatroom. I like the ones who write to “Ted” and complain that their stuff never gets posted because he doesn’t like them, their dog or whatever. It makes me laugh at some people’s stupidity.

Jacksonville should declare English as the official town language. Otherwise there will soon be a big push to include the Spanish language in many areas of business. And then the Spanish speaking folks will never have any incentive to laearn English.

Jacksonville is the most racist town I’ve lived in, and I am an elderly white woman, who has lived in the south, before moving to Jacksonville. Barack Obama is far and above the best candidate for President.

This Coach Stewart Volleyball fiasco really has me thinking today…. My husband coached for many years and I was his biggest cheerleader, but it was difficult for me to take the criticism, second guessing and armchair coaching that so many spectators and parents are experts at these days. The pay was so minimal for the hours, sometimes I thought it should be tax deductible as charity. Anyway, from death threats, yes death threats based on jr. high sports, to yelling, to school meetings, parents were always upset. There were usually one or two parents every year who liked to stir the pot. Things have really changed over the years, I can’t imagine my parents EVER confronting a coach in front of someone concerning their coaching abilities. Granted there may really be some issues with Coach Stewart, but these days if feel parents inadverdantly push the issue by feeding into situations, instead of diffusing them. Sometimes kids are upset, because they’re not playing, their friends aren’t playing, the game wasn’t coached the way they thought it should be, etc. But, this doesn’t create a bad coach, this creates a difference of opinion. I could go on about this all day. Thanks for the new forum!

I saw a lot more traffic on the west end of Morton today. Ive worried about Shopko being stuck out there by themselves. Jacksonville doesnt need to lose another business. But guess what? I was in a line of about 6 cars leaving Wal-mart today around 5:30 and all five cars in front of me went straight across the street to either Steak and Shake or Shopko! It did my heart good.
